Chrysoberyl and diamond coronet cluster ring. Centrally set with a round old cut natural chrysoberyl in an open back claw setting with an approximate weight of 7.40 carats, encircled by a single row of seventeen cushion shape old mine diamonds in open back grain and claw settings with an approximate combined weight of 1.45 carats, to an elegant circular cluster with curving claws, finely pierced gallery and intricate open backholing, flanked by tri-split shoulders and flowing through to a solid flat shank. Tested yellow gold, circa 1900.

The name Chrysoberyl derives from the Greek, meaning “Golden Beryl”, despite not being part of the Beryl (Emerald and Aquamarine) family. The Chrysoberyl family includes some of the most valuable and desirable gems including Alexandrite and Cat’s Eye Chrysoberyl.
