Emerald and diamond coronet cluster ring. Set to centre with an octagonal emerald-cut natural emerald in an open back claw setting with an approximate weight of 1.65 carats, surrounded by twelve cushion shape old mine diamonds in open back claw and grain settings with an approximate combined weight of 1.50 carats, further set with 12 round rose cut diamonds in rub over settings with a combined weight of 0.12 carats.The total diamond weight is approximately 1.62 carats, to an impressive elongated cluster design featuring curving claws, an intricately pierced gallery and open backholing, with carved shoulders that taper through to a solid D-shape shank. Marked 18 carat gold, French import mark, engraved '25 anniv, Mai 1872', circa 1870.

The ring is in very good condition.
The ring has been assessed by our in house gemmologist, the emerald most likely to originate from old mines of Colombia and has minor presence of oil, settings permitting.
Introduced in 1893, the "hibou" (owl) stamp was used to signify that imported gold met minimum French quality standards.
