Demantoid garnets are among the rarest and most sought-after members of the garnet family, prized for their vivid green color. The most historically significant source is the Ural Mountains of Russia, where these remarkable gemstones were first discovered in the mid-19th century. Demantoids from this legendary deposit are especially coveted for their characteristic "horsetail" inclusions—fine, golden byssolite fibers that are considered a hallmark of authenticity and are highly valued by collectors.
