Chairman's Notes

Jewellery designer, René Morin, joined Chaumet in 1962, bringing a fresh perspective to the established firm after studying sculpture at the École des Beaux-Arts in Lyon, France.

His arrival marked the beginning of an era of experimentation and unconventional approaches in Chaumet’s designs. Familiar themes such as nature remained prominent, but with a new boldness in Morin’s hands.

In the late 1960s, Chaumet embraced a bold new direction with the introduction of "or sauvage" (wild gold) into their designs, as seen in this piece, and positioned Chaumet at the forefront of avant-garde creativity during the period from 1965 to 1985.
