Burmese ruby and diamond cluster ring by Whitehouse Bros. Set to centre with a cushion shape mixed cut natural unenhanced Burmese ruby in an open back claw setting with an approximate weight of 1.10 carats, further set with six rectangular baguette cut diamonds in open back channel settings with a combined approximate weight of 0.40 carats and further enhanced by twenty round eight-cut diamonds in open back grain settings with a combined weight of 0.60 carats. The total approximate diamond weight is 1.00 carats, to a geometric cluster design featuring curving corner claws, an intricately pierced gallery and fancy open backholing, flanked by trumpeting shoulders leading to a solid D-shape shank. Marked platinum and iridium, maker's mark for Whitehouse Bros., American, circa 1950, accompanied by The Gem & Pearl Laboratory report #18761.

The ring is in excellent condition.
Whitehouse Bros. was founded in Cincinnati, Ohio at the end of the nineteenth century. By the 1920s, they had become the largest manufacturing jeweller in America, employing over one hundred craftsmen. Many of these craftsmen were German or of German-descent, and were highly skilled in the use of platinum – a material in which Whitehouse Bros. continues to specialise.
