Vintage ruby and diamond bow brooch. Centrally set with twelve rectangular baguette cut diamonds in open back channel settings with a combined weight of 1.30 carats, embellished with forty round star top natural unenhanced rubies in open back rubover settings with a combined approximate weight of 0.80 carats, further enhanced by twenty four round brilliant cut diamonds in open back claw settings with a combined weight of 0.75 carats and decorated throughout with two hundred and nineteen round eight cut diamonds in open back grain settings with a weight of 2.19 carats. The total approximate diamond weight is 4.24 carats, to an impressive ribbon and bow motif with openwork floral design, featuring a curling central knot, decorative scalloped borders and intricately shaped backholing, the reverse mounted with a secure hinged C-clasp with safety mechanism. Tested yellow gold and platinum, marked '3/794', approximate length 8.8cm, circa 1960.
