Ancient Roman gold and resin ring. An ornate solitaire ring featuring a concentric channel of red resin with green resin to centre, polished edges and closed backholing, leading to decorative grooved shoulders and flowing through to a finely crafted solid shank composed of six raised rectangular panels with engraved saltires alternating with a ribbed pattern. Tested yellow gold, approximately 8.2g in weight, circa 3rd century AD, accompanied by an Oxford Labs X-ray fluorescence report stating the composition of the metal.
This ring is very unusual in design, in excellent condition and a fine example of Ancient Roman craftsmanship.
