Edwardian Ceylon sapphire and diamond coronet cluster ring. Set to centre with an oval old cut natural unenhanced Ceylon sapphire in an open back claw setting with an approximate weight of 3.40 carats, surrounded by ten round old cut diamonds in open back claw settings with a combined approximate weight of 2.75 carats, flanked by two cushion shape old mine diamonds in open back grain and rubover settings with a combined weight of 0.18 carats. The total approximate diamond weight of 2.93 carats to an elegant coronet cluster design featuring curving claws, an intricately pierced gallery and fancy open backholing, leading to solid shoulders and flowing through to a tapering D-shape shank. Tested platinum and yellow gold, French import marks, circa 1910, accompanied by Gemmological Certification Services report #5785-2762.
