Mellerio ruby and diamond dress ring. Set to centre with an oval old cut natural unenhanced Burmese ruby in an open back claw setting with an approximate weight of 0.75 carats, flanked by sixteen square step cut natural unenhanced Burmese rubies in open back channel settings with a combined weight of 0.80 carats, and further set with twenty round old cut diamonds in open back grain settings with a combined weight of 1.10 carats. The total approximate ruby weight is 1.55 carats to an impressive design featuring polished edges, shaped open backholing and integrated shoulders flowing through to a solid flat tapering shank. Tested yellow gold and platinum, signed 'Mellerio dits Meller’, numbered 'G25.B', indistinct maker's mark, French, circa 1945.
