Markedplatinum and iridium, maker's mark for Oscar Heyman Brothers, numbered '19636', American, circa 1970, accompanied by Gemmological Certification Services report #5776-3639.
The ballerina style is famously difficult to make, and can only be created by a master craftsman. The skill in creating a ‘ballerina' involves meticulous precision and exactness in the cutting and setting of the gemstones so that they lie perfectly next to each other. In this piece, the undulating row of tapered baguette cut diamonds provide a wonderful contrast to the remarkable Burmese sapphire to the centre.
