Art Deco diamond and sapphire ring. Horizontally set with a drop shape old cut diamond in an open back claw setting with an approximate weight of 1.10 carats, further set below with a row of five calibre cut natural unenhanced sapphires in open back rubover settings with an approximate combined weight of 0.60 carats, further adorned with two vertically set rectangular baguette cut diamonds in open back rubover settings with a combined weight of 0.15 carats, flanked by two scrolling rows of fourteen round eight cut diamonds in open back grain settings with a combined weight of 0.25 carats and two round old cut diamonds in open back rubover settings with a combined weight of 0.08 carats. The total approximate diamond weight is 1.58 carats, to an elegant curving form featuring polished edges, a finely pierced openwork gallery with chenier detail and intricate open backholing, leading to slightly trumpeting shoulders and flowing down to a solid tapered D-shape shank. Marked platinum and iridium, American, circa 1935.
