Victorian diamond solitaire ring. Set with a single cushion shape old mine cut diamond in an open back cut down claw setting with an approximate weight of 1.00 carats, to a solitaire design featuring curving claws, a polished gallery and open backholing, leading to rounded shoulders carved with a scrolling motif and flowing through to a solid smooth shank. Marked 18 carat yellow gold and tested silver, English, circa 1870.
