Sapphire, pearl, ruby, enamel and diamond set caduceus brooch. Set with a natural oval old cut sapphire to centre in a claw setting with an approximate weight of 0.25 carats, flanked by outstretched wings set with round rose cut diamonds in open back grain settings and further set on the two intertwined snakes heads to the centre, all twenty eight with an approximate weight of 0.28 carats. The snakes eyes are set with four round cabochon rubies with an approximate weight of 0.04 carats, with two round natural beaded pearls to top and bottom. The whole takes the form of a caduceus with intertwined snakes flowing vertically down the central bar, one with green and one with red enamel work to the upper. Fitted with a vertical bar brooch pin with articulated hook, further fitted with hoop to wing. Marked 18 carat, 9 carat and silver, circa 1900.
