Julius Rosenthal (also known as Judah Louis Rosenthal or Loewe Rosenthal) was an English goldsmith and jeweller of German descent. Born in London, 1846, he is first recorded as a goldsmith in 1869 based in Greek Street, Soho. He went on to establish himself as a manufacturing silversmith and after a partnership with Frederick James Wiltshire which lasted until 1877, he worked alone until 1881 when he was joined by Samuel Jacob. The business thus styled themselves as Rosenthal, Jacob & Co.

They were known to produce all manner of objects aside from jewellery, including hairbrushes, belt buckles, and hand mirrors. Indeed in 1966, Princess Marina, wife of Prince George, Duke of Kent, donated royal clothing and accessories to the Museum of London, including a chatelaine bag with the frame crafted by Rosenthal, Jacob & Co.
Their partnership dissolved in 1892, thereafter Rosenthal worked alone until June 1895 when bankruptcy forced the business to close.

In 1901, he was listed as ‘Silversmith Gold & own acc’t’, which suggests that he might have done some private work until he died in 1912.
