Centrally set with an oval cut no heat sapphire in an setting with a weight of 3.38 , flanked by two shape in open back with an approximate combined weight of 1.30 carats, to an elegant three stone design featuring curving claws, a pierced and open backholing, the smooth flowing through to a solid . yellow , 1890, accompanied by accompanied by Swiss Gemmological Institute (SSEF) report #140855.

Provenance

This ring was once part of the personal collection of Tsar Ferdinand I of Bulgaria (1861-1948). Bulgaria's first modern king, in 1887 Ferdinand I was elected prince of Bulgaria and later assumed the title of Tsar in 1908 after the country gained independence from the Ottoman Empire.

He abdicated the throne in 1918 and left for Coburg, Germany, where he lived until his death in 1948. His jewellery collection, and that of the Bulgarian royal family have been passed down through the generations.

This ring is in excellent condition.
