The motif of the vine leaf reflects the cultural and religious significance of viticulture in Roman society, where wine was not only a staple of daily life but also central to religious rites, particularly those associated with Bacchus, the god of wine and revelry. Such a ring would have served both as a personal adornment and a signet, sealing documents with an imprint imbued with the prosperity, abundance, and divine favor symbolised by the vine.
