Ancient Roman gold ring with cornelian cabochon. Set horizontally with an elliptical shaped cornelian cabochon in a closed back rubover collet setting, with a fine scrolling gold frame with scalloped edge, flanked by broad solid shaped shoulders with ridged detail and tapering down to a D-shape shank. Tested yellow gold, approximately 8.1g in weight, circa 4th century AD.
