Ancient Greek gold signet ring with lion. The oval central plaque finely engraved with the image of a lion devouring its prey, flanked to either side by softly rounded substantial conforming shoulders which lead down to a solid tapering D-shape shank. Tested yellow gold, circa 5th - 3rd century BC, accompanied by an Oxford Labs X-ray fluorescence report stating the composition of the metal.

Lions are an enduring symbol of power and majesty and have been depicted on the public buildings, statuary and the personal adornments of numerous ancient cultures through to the modern day.
