Set with an oval cabochon natural unenhanced jade in an open back rubover setting with an approximate weight of 12.07 carats, to an impressive signet ring featuring a recessed central collet framed by a polished border and fitted to reverse with intricately pierced backholing, the integrated trumpeting shoulders are decorated with a fine riven pattern which continues to a broad shank. Marked 18 carat yellow gold, maker's mark for Georges Lenfant, French, circa 1945.

 Comments

For the majority of the 20th century, the workshop of Georges Lenfant was run by his son Jacques, who had joined as an apprentice in 1915. For the prolific Parisian jewellery 'maisons', such as Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Boivin, and Hermes, he was trusted to create many of their gold jewellery designs. Lenfant's unparalleled skills as a goldsmith are evident in this remarkable ring, with his signature use of woven texture surrounding the rich green jade.
