Victorian turquoise and diamond negligée necklace. Centrally set with an oval cabochon natural turquoise in an open back claw setting, with an approximate weight of 3.70 carats, surrounded by seven cushion shape old mine diamonds in open back claw settings, with a combined weight of 2.80 carats, further suspending four cushion shape old mine diamonds in open back claw settings with a combined weight of 0.90 carats, terminating with an oval cabochon natural turquoise in an open back claw setting, two in total, with a combined weight of 5.20 carats, clasp set with eight round rose cut diamonds in closed back grain settings, with an approximate weight of 0.08 carats. The total diamond weight is approximately 3.78 carats, to an elegant negligée necklace flowing with movement featuring curved claws, polished galleries and circular open backholing, fitted with a fine fancy link chain that flows through to a secure push clasp, pendant approximately 7cm in length, chain approximately 14" in length. Pendant tested silver and gold, chain tested gold and platinum, circa 1895, accompanied by fitted antique box.

The use of turquoise in Victorian jewellery was influenced by the revival of interest in historical and exotic styles at the time. Queen Victoria, herself, was a great admirer of the gem and even gifted her bridal party gifts of turquoise brooches.
