Sugar loaf cabochon sapphire and diamond ring. Set to centre with a sugar loaf cabochon natural unenhanced sapphire in an open back rubover setting with an approximate weight of 4.70 carats, flanked by six rectangular baguette cut diamonds in open back rubover settings with a combined approximate weight of 0.50 carats, further set with twenty-four round old cut diamonds in open back grain settings with a combined weight of 0.50 carats. The total approximate diamond weight is 1.00 carats, to a bold cluster form featuring polished edges, decorative engraving and open backholing, leading to angular ridged shoulders and flowing through to a solid ridged shank. Tested platinum, engraved to interior '17.3.50', circa 1950, accompanied by Gemmological Certification Services report #80261-56.
