Ceylonspinel and diamondcocktail ring. Centrally set with a cushion shape old cutnatural unenhanced spinel in an open backclaw setting with a weight of 3.26 carats, surrounded by seventy four round old cut diamonds in open back grain and claw settings with a combined approximate weight of 6.00 carats, to an elegant bombécluster, featuring curving claws, smooth borders and intricately pierced open backholing, flanked by trumpeting shoulders flowing down to a wide solid D-shapeshank. Testedplatinum, numbered '7271', English, circa 1960, accompanied by The Gemmological Certification Services report #81286-01.
Bombé style rings are characterized by their domed or convex shape, which creates a bold and sculptural appearance. This style of ring gained popularity during the art deco period, which was marked by a fascination with geometric shapes, striking designs and intricate details full of imagination! The domed surface provides an ideal canvas for showcasing the central spinel which contrasts beautifully against the scintillating diamonds. Despite its bold overall appearance, bombé rings are a versatile and highly wearable style.

Perhaps one the world’s most overlooked and underappreciated gemstones, spinel has a rich history stretching back centuries. Historically mistaken for a ruby, collectors and investors are today looking to spinels as the market’s understanding and appreciation for this gemstone continues to grow.
