The French owl import mark is a hallmark used on gold items that have at one point entered France, and been assayed there.

Introduced in 1893 and still in use today, the hallmark appears as an owl within an oval frame and can on occasion include a small number on the owl's chest indicating the specific French assay office or 'département' that verified the piece.
