Centrally set with an oval unenhanced Burmese sapphire in an setting with a weight of 1.15 , encircled by an undulating row of twenty tapered cut in open back with a combined approximate weight of 1.80 carats, to a ballerina design, featuring curving claws, an intricately pierced and fancy open backholing, flanked by raised split and flowing down to a solid tapering . and , for Oscar Heyman Brothers, numbered '19636', American, 1970, accompanied by Gemmological Certification Services (GCS) report #5776-3639.

The ballerina style is famously difficult to make, and can only be created by a master craftsman. The skill in creating a ‘ballerina' involves meticulous precision and exactness in the cutting and setting of the gemstones so that they lie perfectly next to each other. In this piece, the undulating row of tapered baguette cut diamonds provide a wonderful contrast to the remarkable Burmese sapphire to the centre.
