Edwardian yellow Ceylon sapphire and diamond ring. Centrally set with an oval old cut natural unenhanced yellow Ceylon sapphire in an open back claw setting with an approximate weight of 3.40 carats, decorated with four round eight cut diamonds in open back grain settings with a combined approximate weight of 0.08 carats, to an elegant flanked solitaire featuring curving claws, an intricately pierced gallery and fancy shaped backholing, leading to split open shoulders in a foliate design and flowing through to a solid squared shank. Marked 18 carat yellow gold with platinum settings, circa 1910, accompanied by Gemmological Certification Services report # 80265-59.
