Description

Victorian ruby and diamond coronet cluster ring. Set with an oval old cut natural unenhanced ruby to centre in an open back yellow gold rubover setting, with an approximate weight of 1.00 carats, encircled by a single row of twelve cushion shape old mine diamonds in open back silver cutdown settings with a combined weight of 1.00 carat, and flanked by two round old single cut diamonds in open back grain settings with a combined weight of 0.03 carats. The total approximate diamond weight is 1.03 carats, to an elegant oval cluster with a scrolling openwork gallery, intricate backholing and split tri-part shoulders, tapering down to a solid lightly rounded shank. Tested yellow gold and silver, circa 1870.
