Victorian ruby and diamond coronet cluster ring. Set with an oval old cut natural unenhanced ruby to the centre in an open back rubover setting, with an approximate weight of 1.00 carats, encircled by a single row of twelve cushion shape old mine diamonds in open back silver cutdown settings with a combined weight of 1.00 carat, and further set by two round old single cut diamonds in open back grain settings with a combined weight of 0.03 carats. The total approximate diamond weight is 1.03 carats, to an elegant oval cluster design featuring polished edges, a scrolling openwork gallery and fancy open backholing, flanked by tri-split shoulders tapering down to a solid lightly rounded shank. Tested yellow gold and silver, makers mark 'L a head and 3', circa 1870.
