Victorian pearl and diamond carved ring. Set with one cushion shape old mine cut diamond in an open backgrain and claw setting with an approximate weight of 0.45 carats, further set with two cushion shape old mine cut diamonds in open back grain and claw settings with a combined weight of 0.70 carats, adorned further with two round natural saltwater pearls in closed back claw and grain settings and enhanced with eight round rose cut diamonds in open back grain settings with a combined weight of 0.04 carats. The total approximate diamond weight is 1.19 carats, to a carved half hoop design featuring curving claws, openwork scrolling motifs to the gallery and pierced backholing, leading to carved shoulders and flowing through to a D-shapeshank. Tested yellow gold, indistinct maker's marks, partial hallmarks for Birmingham, English, circa 1880.
