Victorian opal and diamond five stone ring. Set with five round cabochon natural unenhanced white opal in open back claw settings with a combined approximate weight of 2.50 carats, embellished with an additional eight round single cut diamonds in closed back grain settings with a combined approximate weight of 0.08 carats, to a graduating five stone design with finely pierced openwork gallery featuring scrolling details and square backholing, the carved stylised palmettes to the shoulders terminate to a solid D-shape shank. Tested yellow gold, circa 1900.
