Set with a cushion shape old mine cut diamond in an open back claw setting, with an approximate weight of 0.40 carats, to a intricate solitaire design featuring curving claws, a ridged gallery and open backholing, leading to integrated shoulders with decorative black enamel and scrolling motifs, tapering to a carved shank engraved 'IN MEMORY OF'. Tested yellow gold, circa 1870.
