Description

Star sapphire solitaire ring. Set to centre with a round cabochon natural unenhanced star sapphire in an open back claw setting with an approximate weight of 4.75 carats, to an ornate carved solitaire design featuring curving stylised claws, a decorative gallery with engraved foliate detail and open backholing, the broad integrated shoulders tapering to a solid D-shape shank. Marked 14 carat yellow gold, numbered '56', Polish lombard mark, hallmarks for Warsaw, circa 1940.

A Polish lombard mark was used between 1920 - 1963 to mark precious metal pieces that did not have manufacturers or makers marks.
