Vintage star sapphire and diamond cocktail ring. Set to centre with an oval cabochon natural unenhanced star sapphire in an open back claw setting with an approximate weight of 10.00 carats, encircled by alternating rows of fourteen rectangular baguette cut diamonds in open back half rubover settings with a combined approximate weight of 2.00 carats, and fourteen round brilliant cut diamonds in open back half rubover and claw settings with a combined weight of 0.70 carats. The total approximate diamond weight is 2.70 carats, to a ballerina cluster design featuring curving claws, a structural pierced gallery and open backholing, leading to shoulders split four ways and tapering down to a ridged shank. Tested platinum, circa 1950.
