Ruby and diamond ring. Set with one round old cut natural unenhanced ruby in an open back six claw setting with an approximate weight of 0.50 carats, flanked vertically with two round brilliant cut diamonds in open back rubover settings with a combined weight of 0.08 carats, further set with eighteen round single cut diamonds to shoulders in open back grain settings with a combined weight of 0.18 carats. The total approximate diamond weight is 0.26 carats, to an elegant openwork cluster with finely pierced collet, curving claws and fancy backholing, surrounded by tapering split shoulders with millegrain decoration and leading through to a solid D-shape shank. Marked 18 carat yellow gold, indistinct maker's mark, French, circa 1970.
