Description

Romano-Egyptian leonine gold ring. A yellow gold ring composed of a heavy gold round hoop tapered toward the rear, the flattened ovoid bezel set on one side with a triangular formation of gold granulation, the other side with a three dimensional seated lion with coiled gold wire tail, with further granulation on its back and encircled by a twisted gold wire. Tested yellow gold, approximately 15.8g, circa 1st century BC.
