Description

Art Deco Ceylon sapphire and diamond ring. Set centrally with a cushion shape old cut natural unenhanced Ceylon sapphire in an open back claw setting with an approximate weight of 2.62 carats, further set with four rectangular baguette cut diamonds in open back rubover settings with a combined approximate weight of 0.30 carats, to an elegant flanked solitaire design, featuring curving corner claws, a structured openwork gallery and geometric open backholing, flanked by trumpeting split shoulders leading smoothly down to a solid D-shape shank. Tested platinum, circa 1935, accompanied by report and appendix from Gem Research Swisslab (GRS) #2015-016437. The appendix states that this sapphire exhibits colour comparable to those found at Kashmir, India and is therefore designated GRS-type 'Kashmir-Blue'.
