Description

Sapphire and diamond ring by Mauboussin. Set to centre with a natural unenhanced cushion shape old cut sapphire in an open back four claw setting with an approximate weight of 3.00 carats, flanked by six channel set rectangle baguette cut diamonds in open back rubover gypsy settings to step down rows with a combined weight of 1.00 carat, and further flanked by twelve cushion shape old cut diamonds in open back grain settings with a combined weight of 2.00 carats. The total approximate diamond weight is 3.00 carats, all set to a heavy double scrolling form with central collet set slightly raised with openwork and the flanking diamonds set to curving stepped collets, with intricate backholing to the reverse with gently tapering shoulders to a conforming bezel, flowing smoothly down to a solid flat shank. Marked 18 carat white gold and platinum, with maker's mark, French, circa 1947, accompanied by Gem & Pearl Laboratory report #07623, further accompanied by copy of original receipt from Mauboussin Paris with detailed illustration and date 1947.
