Gold posy ring, 'Ruth 1.16' 17'. A conforming lightly rounded band engraved to the interior in italic script 'Ruth 1.16' 17', approximately 2.8mm in width. Tested yellow gold, approximately 1.18 grams in weight, maker's mark, English, circa 18th - 19th century, accompanied by British Museum treasure report.

Found in East Riding, Yorkshire, UK, in 2013.

The inscription in this ring can be directly related to references in the Bible suggesting it is a wedding ring. "16. And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge; thy people shall be my people and thy God my God. 17. Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried: The Lord do so to me, and more also, if ought but death part thee and me."
