Tested yellow gold, approximately 1.73 grams in weight, English, circa 18th century, accompanied by supporting documentation detailing the families of Newsam, Skelly and Gordon.
Newsam married the Skelly family in the 18th century, and there was also a marriage between a Skelly and Gordon. The ring most likely entered the Newsam family via the marriage of major Gordon Skelly. The Skelly and Gordon families both had distinguished military backgrounds, seeing action at both the capture of Quebec and the battle of Seringapatam. This ring has been kept within the Newsam family all of its life. A partial family tree is also included.
