Description

Georgian memorial ring. Set centrally with a crystal covered oval plaque, with funeral urn and weeping willow tree, in a closed back rubover setting, to a shank with white enamel ground and inscribed 'JANE.CUSWORTH.OB.25.NOV:1785.AE:60', bordered to top and bottom by a fine beaded edge, approximately 3mm in width. Tested yellow gold, circa 1783.

The use of white enamel on this mourning ring denotes that this person would have been an unmarried woman.
