Egyptian gold double snake ring. A yellow gold snake ring, composed of two heads sinuously intertwined to center with engraved stylised features, with beaded detailing and leading smoothly through to a solid twisted shank. Tested yellow gold, approximately 6.6g in weight, circa 5th-4th century BC, accompanied by an Oxford Labs X-ray fluorescence report stating the composition of the metal.

The snake motif is one of the earliest motifs used in jewellery, being favoured since ancient times. Snakes were thought to represent the unending circle of life and everlasting love.
