Diamond and ruby ring. Set with two round old cut diamonds in open back claw illusion settings with a combined weight of 0.90 carats, and a drop shape old cut diamond to centre in an open back rubover millegrain setting with a weight of 0.30 carats, further set with two scrolling rows of cushion shape old single cut diamonds in open back grain and millegrain settings, all twelve with a combined weight of 0.36 carats, flanked by seventeen channel set tapered baguette cut natural unenhanced rubies to three rows in open back rubover settings with a combined weight of 1.00 carats. The total approximate diamond weight is 1.56 carats, to an elegant trefoil openwork form with intricate pierced backholing with lightly ridged shoulders, flowing down to a solid lightly rounded shank. Marked 18 carat yellow gold with platinum settings, French control mark, circa 1905.
