Belle Époque Demantoid garnet and diamond dress ring. Set to centre with a cushion shape French cut natural unenhanced Demantoid garnet in an open back grain setting with an approximate weight of 1.50 carats, further set with a hundred and forty four cushion shape old mine diamonds in open back grain settings with an approximate combined weight of 2.00 carats, to an elegant marquise cluster design featuring an fine openwork bezel with foliate forms, an intricately pierced scalloped gallery and fancy open backholing, flanked by split shoulders forming the base of the branches, flowing down to a solid tapered D-shape shank. Marked 18 carat yellow gold and settings tested platinum, maker's mark 'B M with a dog in the middle' makers mark for Basset & Moreau', numbered '5090', French, circa 1905.
