Art Nouveausapphire and diamond carved ring. Set to centre with an oval old cutnatural unenhanced Ceylon sapphire in an open backclaw setting with an approximate weight of 2.60 carats, flanked to top and bottom by two round old cut diamonds in open back claw settings with a combined weight of 0.20 carats, further set to two horizontal rows with twenty round old single cut diamonds in open back grain settings with a combined weight of 0.50 carats. The total approximate diamond weight is 0.70 carats, to a conforming band with two central motifs framing the sapphire depicting intricate carved dragons, millegrain edging and pierced backholing, the broad integrated shoulders tapering down to a carved scrolling openwork shank. Tested yellow gold with platinum settings, circa 1900, accompanied by Gemmological Certification Services report #80268-20.
