Art Deco diamond and ruby cluster ring. Set to centre with five rectangular baguette cut diamonds in open back channel settings with a combined weight of 0.50 carats, flanked by twenty seven tapered step cut natural unenhanced rubies in open back channel settings with a combined approximate weight of 2.00 carats, enhanced by twenty seven round old cut diamonds in open back grain settings with a weight of 1.35 carats. The total approximate diamond weight is 1.85 carats, to an intricately pierced spiral form overlaid with three curved bands set with rubies and vertically crossed at centre with a hemispherical cluster, all to an ornate geometric openwork gallery with finely pierced backholing and flanked by broad trumpeting shoulders which smoothly taper down to a solid flat shank. Tested platinum, circa 1935.
