Antique Burmese sapphire and diamond ring. Set to centre with one oval old cut natural unenhanced Burmese sapphire in an open back claw setting with an approximate weight of 1.50 carats, decorated by sixty two round single cut diamonds in open back grain and rubover settings with a combined approximate weight of 0.75 carats, to an elegantly formed cluster with curving claws, millegrain edging, an openwork gallery featuring a scrolling motif and fancy backholing, flanked by trumpeting diamond set shoulders with foliate detail, continuing down to a solid ridged shank. Tested yellow gold with platinum settings, circa 1905, accompanied by Gemmological Certification Services report #5776-6050.
