Set to centre with an oval old cutnatural unenhanced ruby in an open backclaw setting with an approximate weight of 0.70 carats, encircled by a row of twelve cushion shape old mine cut diamonds in open back cut-down and grain settings and further adorned by twenty two cushion shape old mine cut diamonds in closed back cut-down and grain settings, thirty four in total with an approximate combined weight of 1.00 carats, to a coronet cluster design featuring polished edges, a finely pierced gallery and intricate backholing, leading to trumpeting shoulders and flowing through to a solid D-shapeshank. Tested yellow gold and silver, French assay marks, circa 1850.
