Centrally set with one oval cabochonnatural unenhanced opal in an open backclaw setting with an approximate weight of 1.30 carats, surrounded by a single row of fourteen round old cutdiamonds in open back cutdown settings with a combined approximate weight of 1.40 carats, to an elegant coronet cluster with scalloped edging, intricately pierced gallery and circular backholing, flanked to either side with inwardly tapering shoulders leading down to a solid D-shapeshank. Tested yellow gold with silver settings, numbered '729', circa 1890.
