 Description

Antique Ceylon sapphire and diamond coronet cluster ring. Set to centre with a cushion shape old cut natural unenhanced Ceylon sapphire in an open back grain setting with an approximate weight of 1.88 carats, surrounded by a single row of eight cushion shape old cut diamonds in open back claw settings with an approximate combined weight of 1.60 carats, to a circular cluster design featuring stylised claws, a lightly carved gallery and intricate open backholing, leading to fluted shoulders and flowing through to a solid ridged shank. Marked 18 ct yellow gold, maker's mark 'AL(Russian cyrlic letter L)', numbered '185', Russian, circa 1890, accompanied by Gemmological Certification Services report #78166-96.
