 Description

Ancient bronze ring with Hercules fighting lion. An oval bronze plaque intaglio carved with an intricate depiction of a nude Hercules fighting a lion, to a trumpeted shoulders tapering down to a solid heavy D-shape shank. Tested bronze, approximate weight 7.13 grams in weight, circa 4th-3rd century BC.

Hercules, the divine hero is widely known as the personification of strength and courage. He is usually identified with the lion skin and his favourite weapon the club.
