Description

Ancient Roman jasper signet ring of Mercury, 1st to 2nd century AD. A yellow gold ring horizontally set with one oval green jasper intaglio engraved with a full length figure of Mercury with purse and staff in a rubover collet setting, encircled by a ribbed gold wire, and set to a heavy gold conforming bezel with integrated shoulders and tapered half round shank.

In Roman mythology Mercury was the messanger god, with the Greek equivalent known as Hermes.
