Ancient Roman gold and pearl earrings. A pair of yellow gold articulated drop earrings, each set to top with a natural pearl bead, suspending an elongated pyramid shape motif with scrolling wirework to top and set below with a second natural pearl bead, four natural pearls in total, fitted to reverse with a secure hook fitting, approximately 4.8cm from top of hook. Tested yellow gold, circa 3rd-4th century AD.

Complete matching earrings such as these are a rare survival from the ancient world. These earrings are a testament to the high level of skill of the craftsmen of the time and are in fine condition commensurate with their age.
